Elaboration of principles for an application-oriented and early producibility prediction of exterior trim components manufactured from bright finishing alloys

Exterior trim components manufactured from bright finishing alloys are essential characteristics of the design of modern premium car models. Current trends show a distinctive design language with complex geometries, concise edges and thus a memorable appearance. Part modelling as well as process design are based on simple guidelines and on non validated simulation models so far. Associated with this approach are undesirable modification loops for part and process designs. In the context of the INI.FAU - project, in collaboration with AUDI AG, principles are to be derived, that ensure an early prediction of the producibility. Thereby a method will be developed based on knowledge of the formability and forming limits as well as the influence of the load collective on the resulting part surface at the end of the process chain.
