Modelling of Laser Beam Forming on Extensive Plates I+II

Modelling laser beam shaping processes such as the laser beam bending is only possible through analytical models with rigorous approximations or through FE-simulations with a simple geometry and laser beam path. The purpose of this project is to endorse the existent techniques of FE-simulation with adequate algorithms in order to utilize the incremental na-ture of laser beam forming. Based on these studies a methodology should be developed to achieve a significant time benefit through substituting the thermal-mechanical coupled simu-lation with an intrinsic mechanical calculation using adequate loading models. The expecta-tion is that the required time for the simulation will be reduced and a special FE-application for sheet metal forming processes can be utilized applying this newly developed methodology.
