Project Status: Active
Within the project E5 of the German Research Foundation (DFG) Cluster of Excellence "Engineering of Advanced Materials" multilayered aluminum sheet metal with functional property gradients in thickness direction as well as across the plane of the sheet is investigated. This is based on the Accumulative Roll Bonding process, that consists of the steps surface treatment, stacking and rolling and enables the production of nanocrystalline bulk material. In this context, a new four-high rolling mill was put into operation at the technology hall 3 of the Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH. Now it is possible to produce multi-layered sheet metal with an appropriate size in order to cut blanks for subsequent forming experiments such as deep drawing. With the future process design in mind using the finite element analysis, yield loci diagrams for multilayered aluminum considering different yield criteria were determined as input data.
