Quotation Costing in the Manufacturing of Sheet Metal Parts

Pricing contains high risks for small and medium sized enterprises in the supplier industry, as a given tender decides on the commercial profit for a placed manufacturing order. In the framework of this project a software system for quotation costing in sheet metal manufacturing is being developed which calculates the total production costs of a sheet metal part on the basis of the CAD-model of the workpiece. A combination of full cost and contribution analysis is used in the cost model in order to support the cost estimator in pricing. Necessary data e. g. key data of cost centers, materials, calculation data are stored in a database. The software system supports contour-oriented technologies e. g. nibbling and laser beam cutting and bending as well as the manufacturing with progressive dies. For that purpose Artificial Neural Networks are used to estimate the costs directly from the cost driving features of the sheet metal part.
