System Components for Automatic Feature Detection for Forming Processes

Project Status: finished

Members

Laser bending, a flexible forming process, can be used for the correction of warpage. Varying properties of semi-finished products and the lack of forming tool technology, however, lead to an insufficient reproducibility. To antagonise this problem a closed loop control system consisting of a pre-processor and the actual closed loop control system is developed. The pre-processor transforms the nominal geometry into a suitable format and creates several forming stages which incrementally transform the actual geometry into the target geometry. Within the closed loop the workpiece is digitised by a 3D sensor. Now several features are extracted to realise the actual/nominal value comparison. The use of form features speeds up the geometrical data processing. After that the NC-Code for the warpage correction is gen-erated automatically.
