Elaboration of principles for mapping tribological systems in the FE-simulation

Due to the increasing complexity of car body components, the process window for forming processes decreases constantly. In order to define this process window in the run-up of the process design, it is necessary to model the forming operations as realistic as possible in the FE simulation. Currently, the tribological conditions of the forming process are modelled by a constant friction coefficient. This simulation approach describes the reality insufficiently. Therefore, in the context of this INI.FAU project, in collaboration with AUDI AG, a basis will be created, which allows an improved mapping of the tribological conditions in simulation. Actual results of the velocity- and pressure dependency of the friction coefficient are shown in the diagram. The aim of this project is to increase the prediction accuracy of FE simulation and thus to ensure the process reliability of series production.
