The main goal of the project is the qualification of high nitrogen steels for industrial batch production. High nitrogen steels, e.g. P900N (1.3815), show a high work hardening and a good formability. The high work hardening can be used to produce high performance parts by cold forging in a five stage industrial batch process. Such parts need not to be heat treated after forming. The Forming force is measured by a load cell at each stage in the industrial batch process. The obtained data are used to validate the FE models utilized for tool design. The tools will be further improved on the basis of these models and the results of the industrial batch experiments.
