Flexible spatial bending of tubes in an elastomer pad

Project Status: finished


Main goal of this project is the fundamental analysis of a new bending technology for tubes and profiles using an elastic pad. The investigation of the controlability of the new bending technology is one focus of this pro-ject. For the identification of the influence of various processparameters the process will be modelled using FEM. The results of the simulation will be verified with experiments. The ac-curacy concerning the rechable curvatures, the ovality of the tubes and the reproducability of the curvatures are subject futher works. Because of the residual formability the new technology might open a great potential for the prebending for hydroforming applications. The residual formability will be investigated un-der geometrical, mikro structural and mechanical aspects.
