Integrated CAD/CAM-System for the Laser Material Processing of Light Weight Components

There are several CA systems used for the product development of laser assisted lightweight components. These systems require data and provide new data for other systems. Therefore, this project uses the product model data and technology of STEP Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data, in order to achieve a better information flow between these systems through all phases of the product life cycle. This was realised by integrating the information requirements of laser beam processing, concerning submodels for product, machine and process, into the application protocol 214. This year, work was focused on the detailed description of the submodel for machines for laser material processing. This can be used, e.g. from off line programming systems, to generate adequate machining operations regarding the requirements of product geometry and properties.
