Development of a measuring and test instruction for the calculation of 3d-surface parameters on sheet metal

As the potential of the functional 3d-surface parameters developed at the institute to describe the tribological behaviour of sheet metal in the forming process was verified, this year?s work focussed on the development of a measuring and test instruction for a fast, reliable determination of the parameters. 150 steel and aluminium sheets were used to vary the measuring area, point distance and analysing parameters filter type, cut off, step distance with different measurement systems and to calculate the 3d-surface parameters. Based on correlation coefficients the measuring and test instruction as listed below was fixed in agreement with the project partners from industry. Simultaneously the software Surface Analysis Module was developed further, which enables not only the calculation of the values but also numerous further possibilities of surface characterisation.
