The aim of this research project is to acquire basic knowledge of producing metallic continu-ity joints by laser-generated droplets. For detailed analysis, the whole process can be splitted in the five phases of droplet-generation, -detachment, -flight, -landing and ?welding. The phases of droplet-generation and ?detachment influence the following phases and the quality of the joints significantly way. A consideration of the energy applied to each incremental part of the wire during the wire movement is crucial for process comprehension and interpreta-tion of the process parameters picture: nickel wire Æ 0,6 mm. The combination of these results and informations from process signals aim at a future applicable process.
