Computer-Aided Process Planning for Waterjet Cutting of Light-weight Metals

The aim of this WTZ-project, a co-operation between the Bay Zoltán Institute for Logistics and Production Miskolc, Hungary and the LFT, is to develop a CA system for high quality abrasive waterjet cutting AWC of composite materials. These materials consist of different layers and core materials. Due to the great variety of composite materials and machining contours, a model for all these variations has not been developed yet. Therefore, this project suggests the application of the Fuzzy Logic Theory. To integrate the aspect of composite materials into the Fuzzy Logic knowledge base, Fuzzy-variables which take the material structure into account are introduced in the course of the fuzzification process. The knowl-edge acquired as a result of cutting experiments makes it possible for the knowledge base to reproduce the experience knowledge obtained from AWC-experiments or to apply it to simi-lar structures.
