Practical description of failure in forming processes of sheet metal

 Within the scope of the research project lies the investigation and evaluation of different plastification and damage models with the intention to improve the numerical description of material behaviour in sheet metal forming processes. This requires the realization of an extensive material characterization in order to obtain the neccessary parameters for the corres-ponding models. The models will be integrated subsequently in numerical finite element simulations of selected reference processes, which will be validiated against real experiments. The resulting database will be compared with the real experiments to make an assessment regarding the quality and the complexity of the models. By this means, a guideline can be given to ensure the efficient selection and application of plastification and damage models in the industrial practice.
