Load adapted component properties for lightweight and high performance applications through efficient, optimised cold forging process KAMASS

Aim of the project is to find correlations between components properties, for example remaining residual stresses, hardness distribution and surface quality, and their strength. Therefore the properties, of different component variants were determined. For the investigation of the influence of the properties on the strength of the components, fatigue tests on a resonance pulser were executed. The tests have been performed with a flange hub, which was produced by machining or forming operations. Moreover different kinds of heat treatment have been applied to the components to vary the properties of the flange hubs. Based on the examinations on the fatigue strength Wöhler curves of the different variants have been determined, in order to compare the different component variants, for example the cold forged and the machined variants.
