Investigation of Nonlinear Dynamical Effects for the Optimization of the Machining Quality of Laser Welding Processes

Within this project, the influence of different machining parameters, as laser power, feed rate, focus position, or wavelength of the laser light, has been investigated. The time-fequency spectra of a Nd:YAG-laser welding process is shown in the figure below. It is possible to separate different regions within the time-frequency plane. Similar structures have been identified for laser welding processes using a C02-laser. This indicates that laser welding dynamics are governed by a universal law.
